Reiko Goto Collins’s new project, Horse | Tree | Earth, brings a working horse and cart through north Glasgow: hauling trees, tools and soil from the Whisky Bond, by the canal and Applecross, to Hamiltonhill Claypits Local Nature Reserve, where large native trees will be planted with friends, collaborators and members of the community.

Performance and planting

  • Sunday 18 October and Sunday 15 November 2026, 11am – 1pm
  • Starts at the Whisky Bond, 2 Dawson Road, Glasgow G4 9SS, then moves into the Claypits for planting (enter from the corner of Firhill and Garscube Street, or from Applecross way to the pond area)

Exhibition

  • Clay Café, 206 Bardowie Street, Glasgow G22 5AB, 22 October – 20 November 2026
  • Thursdays 10:30am – 3pm, Fridays 10am – 4pm
  • Opening: Friday 23 October, 5 – 7pm

The exhibition brings together documentation of the performance with archival images of working horses in Glasgow and beyond, 1850–1950, and reflections from artists, performers, participants and the wider community.
