This is a terrific video of the fourth day of HAKOTO performances as part of the CCKPT exhibition and performances curated by Georg Deitzler in Düsseldorf and Köln, Germany. Here we have twin beach trees. Tim has attached to the shady side of one, Reiko is on the sunlit side of the other. The sound is generated by the leaves. It is generative and dynamic with clouds overhead driving photosynthesis and transpiration.

HAKOTO is a body-instrument comprised of a complex sensor array and a standard plant physiology logarithm which reveals a generative | dynamic sound response to localized atmospheric changes. Rooted in the current climate crisis the work reveals potential commonalities across human and more-than-human entities that share a common atmosphere and planetary condition. It has enabled us to reconsider ideas and perceptions about our inter relationship with trees. There is a shift in the value placed on trees through sound. The basis of this symbolic exchange is photosynthesis and transpiration.          Collins + Goto studio (2024)
